7 Reasons I'll Never Cook With Anything But Acacia
I went down the microplastics rabbit hole last year, and it changed how I see everything in my kitchen. I tried BPA-free plastic, silicone, bamboo, and two "natural" wooden sets from Amazon. Every single one had something hidden.
Then a friend told me about small leaf acacia wood. Here's what I wish someone had told me a year ago 👇
1. Nothing added

Every product I tried had something added. BPA-free plastic still had BPS. Silicone had siloxanes. Bamboo had formaldehyde glue. The Amazon sets were coated in industrial lacquer.
Small leaf acacia is naturally oily. It's antibacterial, antifungal and water-repelling all at once. It doesn't need coatings. It doesn't need chemicals. It's just… wood.
2. They actually proved it

I don't trust labels any more. After a year of every "safe" claim turning out to be a lie, I trust proof.
CURNAT had their utensils independently tested. Third-party lab. FDA food-contact standards.
3. Antibacterial

This was my biggest hesitation — won't wood hang on to bacteria? Turns out small leaf acacia has natural tannins and compounds that actively kill bacteria. USDA research found that acacia reduces bacterial populations by up to 99% within hours — even without washing. Most woods don't do that.
4. It doesn't break down

I've had cheap wooden spoons crack within months. They splinter, they warp, they get that weird smell.
Acacia is one of the hardest woods on earth. The Egyptians built with it 5,000 years ago — in a desert climate where durability meant everything. I've had my set for 11 months and cook with it almost every day — it looks the same as day one. And if anything ever happens, there's a lifetime warranty. They just replace it.

5. Not the stuff from Amazon

Good luck finding real small leaf acacia on Amazon. Most "acacia" utensils on there are coated in shellac and lacquer — at that point you're not even cooking with wood any more. The cheaper sets are also glued together from several pieces, which means bacteria grows in the seams.
CURNAT uses real, small leaf acacia. No toxins. No glue. The first time I picked one up, I could tell it was a completely different thing.
6. What 25,000+ families are saying

This is the part that convinced me I wasn't crazy for caring about this.
7. Six sets. Nearly £200. One winner.

I spent nearly £200 on utensils that all ended up in the bin:
BPA-free sets: £40. Still had chemicals.
Silicone set: £45. Leaches above 150°C.
Bamboo set: £30. Formaldehyde glue.
"Wooden" sets from Amazon: £55. Coated in lacquer.
My friend's CURNAT set is the only one she still uses. Real acacia, hand-carved, no coatings, lifetime warranty. She said it was worth every penny.
Right now it's on sale with the same lifetime warranty, because it's a small batch and once it's gone, it's gone.
